Advantages and Disadvantages of Being a Vegetarian
Advantages and Disadvantages of Being a Vegetarian
Nowadays, vegetarianism is gaining more and more
popularity around the world. A vegetarian diet, which typically consists of
vegetables, fruits and whole grains, is said to be beneficial for the health.
At the same time, it is associated with reducing the risk of a number of
diseases. Despite having a good influence on our body, vegetarianism has many
disadvantages. What are the pros and cons of being a vegetarian?
First of all, one of the biggest reasons that a person
decides to become a vegetarian is because of the treatment of animals. They
feel as if it is immoral to kill innocent animals for food when there
are plenty of other options available to give us nutrition. Secondly, the consumption
of meat can cause many different health problems, including heart disease, cancer,
and gastrointestinal problems. Another great thing of being a vegetarian is
that you consume more fruits, vegetables, and other health effective things.
On the other hand, according to the food, animals kill
in order to feed themselves, and humans are no different at all. Eating meat is
a natural part of life, and it provides great benefits to the people who consume
it as well as the animals. Furthermore, there are some types of vitamins and
minerals that can only be obtained through meat. One of these is the vitamin
B-12, which is essential to the body. And some of the other types of things,
such as omega-3 fats and other omega fatty acids, which play vital roles in the
body’s functions. Protein is what gives our body the energy that it
needs to simple daily activities. Trying to find alternatives to protein can be
time consuming and expensive because animal products, like meat, are more available.
To sum up, vegetarians
can substitute meat products for the plant ones and keep to the adequate diet,
avoiding the risk of many diseases caused by an excessive consumption of meat.
But at the same time, people have always eaten meat and it is a natural part of our life and finding alternatives
to meat products may be rather difficult.

Your work gives a good idea about the article you have summarised; there is a good balance b/w general points and specific details. It is written very well and does not contain any major errors. One thing you need to remember though is that the thesis statement cannot be a question. Other than that it is a well-written work.
